Well, we're one week closer to meeting our little guy and have been busy making sure everything is ready! We went to the doctor on Wednesday and got a little bit of an update on how things are progressing. Last week we were told that I was about 80% effaced, but Dr. Merritt (we saw our PA, Wendy, the week before) estimated I was really only about 50% effaced. I am barely dilated (not even 1 cm) so Dr. Merritt predicted we would not be having the baby before our next appointment. Although, she did say anything is possible! She thinks we're looking at August still, which is now only a week away! Jim keeps telling Will that he needs to wait until August 1 because of the Little League Sports cutoff date. :) No pressure, little guy!
Here is a little about what is going on with Will this week:
Congratulations — your baby is full term! This means that if your baby arrives now, his lungs should be fully mature and ready to adjust to life outside the womb, even though your due date is still three weeks away.
Your baby weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long. But don't be surprised if your baby's hair isn't the same color as yours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. And then, of course, some babies sport only peach fuzz.
We'll post back again after our appointment on Thursday, unless he decides to make his debut before then!
37 Weeks

I'm so excited for you guys and for us! Can't wait for Will's arrival and some serious YAYA and Grandad time.
ReplyDeleteThat same thing happened to me. I had to see the PA one and she told me I was a lot further along than I really was. It is so frustrating! He will be here soon enough though! Love ya.
ReplyDeleteSo glad Will made the sports cutoff for Daddy Jim's sake. Hope he grows out of the "leek" stage before Little League. LOVE the nursery--it all came together. Now if Will would just come to add the final touch! Beejie
